John Burnett

Group 6/7 Tutor

Alder Tree offers the possibility of working creatively with children, parents and colleagues in an harmonious environment at a pace that suits children’s development.

My name is John Burnett, and I am a Group Tutor at Alder Tree.

I trained and worked as state teacher then transferred to Steiner education in 1973.

I never regretted the decision, taking two classes through from age six to fourteen as well as teaching upper school pupils.

I worked 20 years at Plymouth University running a BA in Steiner Education and have worked in New Zealand and Australia and China as a mentor. I’m even more enthusiastic about this approach to schooling than when I joined in the Seventies!

Steiner education is an art and it’s a joy to see children flourish when they are in an environment where their developmental needs are understoood and catered for. Alder Tree is such an environment!

I am the Designated Safeguarding Lead for Alder Tree.
