German, music and dance tutor

Waldorf education, with its way of teaching foreign languages, complements intercultural competences, promotes the skills of listening and understanding, as well as tolerance for the unknown. This is what I support at Alder Tree.

My name is Mariam Lagvilava-Lahe, and I am a Subject Tutor at Alder Tree.

After graduating from the State TV and Radio University Tbilisi Georgia, studying Journalism, I went to Germany, Free University of Waldorf Pedagogy Stuttgart.

The two-year course turned into lifelong work in deepening in the human nature – anthroposophy – the well of inspiration and new energy for me.

Returning back to my home country, I took a class of twenty-eight children, and the class teacher journey began. The following seven years, spent with them, were the years of real questions, growth, accompanying challenges, overcoming them, learning and more learning – including learning from children. The curiosity and the urge of knowing the world in little ones convinced me that the teacher in front of them needs to be doing the same daily – exploring, learning, developing, refining oneself, improving…

Trying to become a good listener to what each child needs at the given moment and age, sculpting each lesson so that it finds its way to the pupils’ hearts, bringing joy, awakening interest and inner motivation to learn – these are what make each lesson into an artwork and the profession of the teacher so attractive to me.

I feel grateful and lucky for working with similarly minded, experienced colleagues in supporting youngsters to unveil their individual skills and find themselves.

In my free time, I enjoy reading books, playing piano, singing in a choir, and exploring new places.
